I have added several icons to my app before, but now I don’t know what happened. It keeps saying “Icon family name already exists”, even though I’ve changed everything the .ttf file name, and the icon name.
But the error still pops up.
The error usually means the font you’re trying to upload still has an internal name that conflicts with an already installed icon font in your app, even if you renamed the ttf file itself. The internal font metadata (not the file name) includes properties like the font family name, full font name, etc.. These are what the system checks for conflicts, and not the filename or what you label the icon set in your app. You need to edit the internal font metadata of the ttf file to give it a truly unique font family name.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation — that makes a lot of sense now. I didn’t realize the internal font metadata could still cause a conflict even after renaming the .ttf file and icon names.
I’ll look into editing the internal font metadata to set a unique font family name. Appreciate your help!
