# 💬 One of the Best Method to Create a Live Chat in FlutterFlow

If you’re planning to build a **live chat feature** (like WhatsApp or Messenger) in FlutterFlow, here’s a simple guide on how to do it **efficiently and in real-time**! 🚀

### 🔧 Recommended Setup:

Use **Firebase Firestore** (because of its real-time syncing) + FlutterFlow’s built-in chat features or custom widgets.

### 🧱 Steps to Build Live Chat:

**1️⃣ Create Firestore Collections**

- **Chats** → Stores each chat session
- **Messages** → Stores messages for each chat (linked to `chat_id`)

**2️⃣ Design Your Pages**

- **Chat List Page** : Shows all ongoing chats
- **Chat Page** : Displays messages & input field

**3️⃣ Add Realtime Firestore Query**  
Use a **Firestore Query** widget with `orderBy Timestamp ASC` to auto-update messages as they come in.

**4️⃣ Add Message Input**  
Use a `TextField` + `Send Button` → onPress action: **Create Document in “Messages”**

### 💡 Best Practices:

✅ Use `currentUserReference` to track sender  
✅ Store messages with `sender`, `text`, `timestamp`, `chat_id`  
✅ Use **streamed data** to keep chats live  
✅ Optional: add push notifications with Firebase for new messages
