Creating an AI chat app can be a fantastic way to integrate conversational interfaces with advanced machine learning models. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through building an AI chat app using **FlutterFlow** (a low-code app builder for creating mobile apps) and **n8n** (an open-source workflow automation tool). This combination of tools allows you to build and automate workflows with minimal coding required.

## Prerequisites

Before starting, make sure you have:

1. **FlutterFlow account** : Sign up for an account at FlutterFlow.

2. **n8n account** : You can set up an account and run n8n either locally or use n8n.cloud at n8n.

## Step 2: Set up n8n for AI Model Integration

### 2.1 Install n8n or Use n8n Cloud

2. **Create a new workflow** : Once n8n is up and running, log in and click on **New Workflow**.

2. Copy the Webhook URL that n8n generates.

## Step 3: Integrate n8n with FlutterFlow

### 3.1 Call n8n Webhook from FlutterFlow

Now, back in FlutterFlow, you need to connect the **Send Button** to the n8n webhook to send user messages.

1. **Create an Action for the Send Button** : Go to the **Actions** tab for the Send Button and create an HTTP request action.

2. **Configure the HTTP Request** :

### 3.2 Handle the Response in FlutterFlow

1. After sending the message, the **n8n workflow** will process it and return the AI’s response.

2. You can bind the response to the ListView and display the AI’s message once it’s received.

For example, you can bind the AI response to a new chat bubble in the ListView so that it appears in the conversation.

## Step 4: Testing the AI Chat App

Once everything is set up, test your chat app to ensure it works as expected.

1. Type a message in the FlutterFlow app.

2. Hit **Send**.

3. The app should send the message to n8n, process it with the OpenAI model, and display the response in the chat interface.

## Optional Enhancements

- **Add User Profiles** : Enhance your app with user profiles and save chat history using Firebase Firestore or another database.

- **Add AI Personality** : Adjust the parameters in the OpenAI node to give the AI a more personalized touch (e.g., friendly, formal, etc.).

- **Enhance UI** : Add animations, custom UI components, or use pre-built FlutterFlow templates to enhance the look of your app.
